Bilimbi Sambal Recipe

Serves 6     Cold shellfish Fruit vegetables Condiment Accompaniment  Dairy Free Eggless Malaysia South East Asian Asian

Ingredients
1 tbsp Shrimp Paste
3 Red chillies, chopped
Salt and Sugar to taste
3 ripe Star Fruit, sliced

Instructions

1. Heat a small saucepan until hot, add the shrimp paste and cook, stirring for 1 minute until fragrant.

2. Place the cooked shrimp paste in a mortar together with the chillies, salt and sugar and pound until fine.

3. Place the sliced star fruit in a mixing bowl together with the pounded chilli mixture and mix well, mashing it slightly.

 

Serving instructions

Serve cold as an accompaniment to rice and main course dishes.
