16 Dried Figs
Ginger, thinly sliced
600ml/20fl.oz. Cold Water
1 tbsp Golden Syrup or light Molasses
1. Place figs, ginger and water in a large saucepan, bring to the boil, then
reduce the heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
2. Add the golden
syrup and sugar, mix gently but thoroughly and continue to simmer for a further
15 minutes or until figs are plumped up and tender.
Serve the gingered
figs warm with ham,
pork, chicken or beef.
