Skirlie RecipeHT ACC Scottish 20mins
Skirlie is a traditional Scottish dish which can be eaten on its own or used as a stuffing.Serves 4 Hot Vegetables Accompaniment Eggless Scotland British Europe Ingredients: 50g/2oz Lard or Butter 1 Onion, finely chopped 175g/6oz Rolled Oats Salt and Black Pepper
Instructions 1. Heat the lard in a frying pan, add the onion and sauté for 5 minutes, stirring from time to time. until soft and golden brown.
2. Add the oats, salt and pepper, mix well and continue to cook over a medium heat for about 10 minutes.
3. Add the butter, salt, pepper and nutmeg and beat with a wooden spoon. Serve the skirlie hot sprinkled with parsley.
