Garlic Bread Recipe

A classic Garlic Bread Recipe.


Serves 4-6         Accompaniment   Hot   Vegetarian



100g/4oz Butter

2 Garlic cloves crushed or finely minced

1 tbsp Freshly chopped Parsley

1 long French Stick




1.  Preheat the oven to  200C, 400F, Gas mark 6.  In a bowl, mix together the butter, garlic and parsley until well incorporated.


2. Slice the loaf in half lengthways and spread the cut sides thickly with three quarters of the garlic butter. Sandwich together and cut into 4 equal portions.


3. Place on a piece of  foil large enough to wrap the portions then spread the remaining garlic butter on the outsides of the loaf (or melt the garlic butter and brush on with a pastry brush).  Wrap tightly in the foil and bake in the centre of the oven for 10 minutes. 


4. Remove the foil and continue to bake the garlic bread for a further 5 minutes until crisped. Serve hot.
