10 Minute Homemade Pizza Crust (base)

Ingredients

200g/7oz Self Raising Flour
¼ teasp Salt
1 tbsp Olive Oil
Approx 90ml/3fl.oz. Warm Water
 

Instructions

1. Place the flour, salt, olive oil and water in a large mixing bowl. Mix well with a knife until a dough starts to form then pull together with your fingers, adding a very little more water if necessary to form a firm dough.

 

2. Knead the dough in the bowl for a couple of minutes then turn onto a floured surface and continue to knead for a further 3-4 minutes until you have a firm elastic dough.

 

3.  Roll the dough out using a lightly floured rolling pin to a thickness of about 6mm/¼-inch and place on a large baking tray. If you prefer, you can divide the dough into two pieces and roll each out as above.

 

 

TIPS AND OPTIONS: 

As there is no yeast, make sure you use self raising flour

Knead - A rhythmic action in dough making whereby one end of the dough is secured by the heel of one hand and stretched away, then pulled back over the top.

Making up, cooking and serving your pizza

 

Once rolled out, spread the pizza crust liberally with a well flavoured homemade tomato sauce (recipe below) then top with ingredients of your choice. Common ingredients used include grated cheese, onions, sweet peppers or chillies, anchovies, tuna, pepperoni, ham and olives.  Keep the toppings in small pieces/slices to ensure they cook through.

 

Once topped, cook your pizza in a hot oven for 10 - 15 minutes.
