Hot Vegetarian Baked Fayre Teatime Dairy free
Ingredients 480ml/16fl.oz. Water 1 tbsp Olive Oil 1/4 teasp Salt 225g/8oz Plain Flour Oil for deep frying Granulated or Caster sugar for dipping
Instructions
1. Place the water, olive oil, and salt in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
2. Add the flour all at once and beat well with a wooden spoon until it leaves the sides of the pan and forms into a ball. Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly.
3. Using a pastry bag fitted with a 6.25cm/1/4 inch fluted (star) nozzle, pipe the dough into strips about 10cm 4 inches long. The fluted shape is very important otherwise the pastries will turn out hard when fried.
4. Place enough oil in a large frying pan to a depth of 12.5mm/1/2 inch and heat until very hot. Reduce the heat to medium and fry the churros, 4 at a time, turning once, until they just begin to color.
5. Drain on kitchen paper and serve warm dipped in sugar.
