Stilton Scones Recipe Veg HT CD CBF English 25mins
This is a savoury scone recipe using Stilton Cheese
Makes 8 Hot Cold Vegetarian Pastries Teatime Baked Fayre England British Europe
Ingredients 225g/8oz Self Raising Flour 1/4 teasp of Cayenne Pepper 1/2 teasp Dry Mustard 50g/2oz Margarine 100g/4oz Stilton Cheese, rind removed 150ml/5fl.oz. Milk 1 Egg, beaten
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 200C, 400F, Gas Mark 6 and lightly grease and flour a baking sheet.
2. Sieve together the flour, salt, pepper and mustard into a large mixing bowl.
3. Rub in the margarine and cheese and enough milk to make a soft but not wet dough.
4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll out to no less than 2.5cm/1 inch thick. Cut into rounds about 5cm/2 inches in diameter using a biscuit cutter and lightly brush with beaten egg and milk.
5. Place spaced apart on the baking sheet, bake for 10-15 minutes. Serve warm with butter.
