Chocolate Cake Veg CD CBF 45minsMakes 1 x 20cm/8 inch cake Cold Vegetarian Cakes Baked Fayre teatime
Ingredients 100g/4oz Good quality Plain Chocolate, grated 5 Eggs, separated 225g/8oz Caster Sugar 100g/4oz Butter 100g/4oz Plain FlourInstructions 1. Preheat the oven to 180C, 350F, Gas mark 4 and grease a 20cm/8inch cake tin. 2. In a bowl, beat together the egg yolks and sugar until pale and thick. Add the butter and chocolate and beat well. Gradually add the flour beating after each addition, then fold in the beaten egg whites. 3. Pour the mixture into the prepared tin and bake for 30 minutes. The cake will be cooked when a toothpick is inserted into the middle and comes out clean. Turn onto a wire rack to cool.
