Gingerbread Recipe Veg CD CBF 75minsMakes 1 x 18cm/7 inch square cake Cold Vegetarian Cakes Baked Fayre Ingredients: 225g/8oz Plain Flour 1 teasp Bicarbonate of Soda 1 1/2 teasp Ground Ginger 50g/2oz Black Treacle 100g/4oz Golden Syrup 75g/3oz Margarine 50g/2oz Soft Brown Sugar 2 Eggs 2 tbsp Milk Instructions 1. Preheat the oven to 170C, 325F, Gas mark 3 and grease an 18cm/7inch square tin and line the base with greaseproof paper. Sift flour, Bicarbonate of soda and ginger into bowl. 2. Place the treacle and golden syrup in a saucepan with the margarine and brown sugar and gently eat until melted. In a bowl, beat together eggs and milk. 3. Pour melted ingredients, then beaten eggs into the bowl containing the flour and mix to thick batter, then pour into the lined tin. Bake in centre of oven for 1 hour.
