Honeyed Plum Crumble   Veg  HT  DP  English  55mins

Serves 4-6    Hot  Vegetarian  Dessert  Pudding  Fruit Nuts  England  British  Europe

Ingredients
900g/2lb Plums, halved and stoned

150ml/5fl.oz. Water

60ml/2fl.oz. Honey

The Juice and grated zest of 1 Orange

100g/4oz Butter
200g/7oz Plain Flour
50g/2oz Sugar
50g/2oz toasted Hazelnuts, chopped

Instructions

1. Pre-heat oven to 200C, 400F, Gas Mark 6.  Place the plums, water, honey, orange juice and zest in a saucepan, bring to the boil then reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes.

2. Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl, rub the butter into flour with your fingertips  until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. 

3. Stir in sugar and hazelnuts, mixing well.

4. At the end of the cooking time, transfer the plums to an ovenproof gratin dish and sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the top. Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden. Serve hot with custard.
