Down Date Cake Veg HT DP
Serves 4-6 Hot Nuts Fruit Vegetarian Dessert
75g/3oz Butter or
100g/4oz Self Raising Flour
1/4 teasp Nutmeg
75g/3oz Chopped Dates
50g/2oz Chopped Pecan Nuts
1 teasp Vanilla Extract
For the sauce
1 tbsp Butter or Margarine
240ml/8fl.oz. Hot water
1. Preheat the
oven to 180C, 350F, Gas Mark 4 and lightly grease an ovenproof dish.
2. In a large
mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until pale and fluffy.
3. Sift the
dry ingredients into the bowl and gradually add the milk, beating to a smooth

dates, nuts and vanilla extract and mix well.
5. Pour into the
greased dish and set aside.
6. Place the
sauce ingredients in a saucepan and heat, stirring, until well blended.
7. Pour the sauce
over the cake mixture then bake for 30 minutes. Serve hot.
