A Weekday Menu Recipe


Yoghurt with Jaggery Treacle   Veg CD DP  Sri Lankan  15mins

Sri Lankan Name: Kiri Pani

Serves 4     Cold Vegetarian Traditional Dessert Gluten Wheat Free Eggless Sri Lanka Ceylon Ceylonese Asia Asian

225g/8oz Jaggery
120ml/4fl.oz. Water
400g/14oz Set Buffalo or Greek type Yogurt


1. Place the jaggery and the water in a heavy-bottomed saucepan and heat very gently, stirring from time to time, until the jaggery has dissolved.

2. Once the jaggery has dissolved, raise the heat and bring to the boil. Continue to boil until it has reduced to a pouring sauce consistency.

3. To serve - strain into a jug then pour over the yogurt just before serving.
