Fruit Crumble Recipe Veg HT CD DP British 50minsServe 4 Hot Cold Vegetarian Dessert Pudding English England Scottish Scotland Welsh Wales Britain Europe
Ingredients: 450g/1lb Fresh Fruit e.g. apple, plum, cherry Sugar to taste Water For the Crumble 100g/4oz Flour 50g/2oz Butter 75g/3oz Sugar
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 190C, 375F, Gas mark 5 and grease an ovenproof dish.
2. Prepare the fruit by washing, peeling, stoning or coring if necessary and cutting into large chunks. Place in a saucepan with 2 tablespoons of water. Sprinkle over the sugar (according to how sweet the fruit is) and cook over a low heat for 5-15 minutes depending on what fruit is used.
If using soft fruit such as raspberries, do not add the water.
3. In a bowl, rub the butter into the flour with your fingertips until it resembles breadcrumbs then stir in the sugar and mix well.
4. Place the fruit in the greased ovenproof dish and top with half the crumble mixture pressing firmly. Add the remaining crumble mixture and bake in the oven for 25 minutes until crisp and golden brown. Serve hot or cold.
