Ingredients:
1.3kg/3lb Dried Mixed Fruit
225g/8oz Cooking Apples, peeled ,
100g/4oz Blanched Almonds, chopped
175g/6oz Shredded Beef Suet (or Vegetable)
450g/1lb Soft Dark Brown Sugar
1 teasp Grated Nutmeg
1 teasp Ground Cinnamon
The grated rind of 1 Orange
The grated rind of 1 Lemon
300ml/10fl.oz. Brandy or Sherry
Instructions
1.
Place all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix until thoroughly
blended.
2.
Cover and leave to stand for 2 days.
3. Stir well to re-mix, then transfer to jars and cover with a waxed disc and lid and allow at least 2 weeks before using.
Used
in various desserts and pastries, especially
at Christmas time.
