Treacle Tart Veg HT DP English 40mins
Serves 4 Hot Vegetarian Traditional Dessert Puddings England British Europe
Ingredients: 200g/7oz Shortcrust Pastry 150ml/5fl.oz. Golden Syrup The juice of ½ a Lemon 100g/4oz Fresh White Breadcrumbs ½ teasp Ground Ginger
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 200C, 400F, Gas mark 76
2. On a floured board, roll out the pastry and use to line a 23cm/8 inch flan tin. Line with greaseproof paper, fill with baking beans and bake in the oven for 10 minutes.
3. Meanwhile, very gently heat the treacle and lemon juice in a small saucepan.
4. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the breadcrumbs.
5. Remove the beans and paper from the pastry case, pour the treacle mixture into the pastry case then return to the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes. Serve hot or warm with custard.
Can also be served cold.
You can also use a mixture of half golden syrup and half black treacle if you prefer.
