If serving as part of a traditional Indonesian meal, i.e. a rice/noodle dish
plus 2-3 other dishes, reduce the quantity of Prawns to 450g/1lb

Place the tamarind paste in a small bowl together with the water and stir to

Heat 1 tablespoon of the oil in a large frying pan or work, add the prawns and
stir fry for 2 minutes until they have turned a bright pink colour. Remove from
the pan and set aside.
Heat the remaining oil in the pan, add the spice paste and stir-fry over a
medium heat for 2-3 minutes.
Return the prawns to the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring. Serve
