A Weekday Menu Recipe


Patagonian Prawns     HT   MC  Welsh  25mins

Welsh Name:   Coygimwch dell Patagonia

Serves 4   Hot  Shellfish  Seafood  Vegetables  Herbs  Spices  Main Course  Eggless  Wales  British  Britain  Europe

1 small Cauliflower

360ml/12fl.oz. White Sauce
120ml/4fl.oz. Double Cream
1 teasp Tomato Ketchup

1 teasp Garlic Salt
1 teasp Ground Bay Leaves
1 teasp Ground Turmeric
1 teasp Mustard Powder
100g/4oz Caerphilly Cheese, crumbled or grated

225g/8oz Peeled Prawns


1. Break the cauliflower into florets then place in a large saucepan of boiling salted water and cook for about 10 minutes or until just tender.

2. Meanwhile, place the white sauce in a medium saucepan and bring to simmering point. Add  the cream, tomato ketchup, garlic salt,  ground bay leaf, turmeric and mustard powder and mix well.

3. Add the cheese, stir until melted then add the prawns and heat through gently without boiling.

4. Preheat the grill to hot. Drain the cooked cauliflower, transfer to a shallow heatproof dish then pour the prawn mixture over the cauliflower and grill for about 5 minutes until golden brown. Serve immediately.
