Cod Au Gratin HT MC English 45mins Serves 4 Hot Fish Dried Fruit Main Course Eggless England British Europe
Ingredients 450g/1lb Cod Fillet A little milk 25g/1oz Butter 25g/1oz Flour 75g/3oz Grated Cheddar Cheese 1 tbsp Chutney 50g/2oz Sultanas Salt & pepper
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 180C, 350F, Gas mark 4.
2. Skin the fish and place in a buttered dish with some milk. Cover with buttered greaseproof paper and bake in the centre of the oven for 20 minutes.
3. Strain off the liquor and make up to 240ml/8 fl.oz. with milk.
4. Melt the butter in a pan and stir in the flour. Cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually add the milk stirring all the time. Bring to the boil and cook until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in the cheese, chutney and sultanas. Season to taste.
5. Pour the sauce over the fish and return to the oven for 10 minutes to heat through.
