Savoury Herrings HT MC 25mins Serves 4 Hot Fish Vegetables Main Course Eggless
Ingredients: 4 Herrings Seasoned Flour 2 medium-sized Onions, thinly sliced 75g/3 oz. Butter 1-2 tbsp Vinegar
Instructions
1. Clean the fish and remove the backbone and roes; wash and dry carefully.
2. Score the fish 2-3 times on each side and dip into seasoned flour. Heat the fat in a frying pan and arrange the fish side by side in the fat; cook for 5 minutes till golden-brown, turn, add the onions and fry for a further 5 minutes.
3. Remove the fish and drain well, then put it in a serving dish.
4. Continue to cook the onions for a further few minutes. Arrange them on or around the fish.
5. Add the vinegar to the pan, heat slightly, then pour over the herrings. Serve immediately.
