Scroll down for recipesWhilst there are freshwater species of crabs, the majority most of us will find in fishmongers and shops will be seawater (marine) species. Crabs are crustaceans found in oceans worldwide and eaten in most cuisines. They are also farmed. ifferent vary in size enormously from the pea crab which is only a few millimetres wide, to the Japanese spider crab which has a leg span of up to 4 metres. It should be noted that Soft-shell crabs, which are considered by many as a delicacy, don't actually have "soft shells".
