Anchovy Brochettes HT HD Italian 30mins Serves 4 Hot Fish Appetizer Hors d'oeuvre Starter Eggless Italy Europe
Ingredients: 8 Large slices of White Bread 200g/7oz Mozzarella Cheese 150g/5oz Butter 1 50g/2oz tin of Anchovy Fillets 4 tbsp Milk
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 200C, 400F, Gas mark 6. Cut the bread and cheese into 5cm/2 inch squares then thread alternately onto 8 skewers, starting and ending with a square of bread.
2. Arrange on an ovenproof dish to that each end of the skewers are supported by the rims.
3. Melt 100g/4oz of the butter in a pan and brush generously over the brochettes. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Cook in the oven for 15 - 20 minutes, basting from time to time with the butter in the dish, until golden brown.
5. Meanwhile, melt the remaining butter in a saucepan and add the drained and mashed anchovies. Gradually add the milk and mix well over a low heat.
6. Just before serving, pour the anchovy mix over the brochettes. Serve hot as a starter.
