450g/1lb Soft Brown
225g/8oz Black Treacle
100g/ 4oz Butter
2 tbsp Water
1 tbsp White Vinegar
1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan then add the remaining ingredients and
heat gently until the sugar has dissolved.
2. Bring to the boil, stirring, then continue to boil for about 10 minutes
3. Test for a set by dropping a little of the mixture into a cup of cold
water. It is ready when it forms a hard ball.
4. Pour into a shallow, greased tin and allow to cool for at least 3 hours.
Break into pieces when cold.
Makes a nice homemade Christmas
