Mother's Day

Whether you celebrate Mothering Sunday on the 18th March (UK) or 13th May 2012 (N. America), or any other date, here are some great ideas and recipes to treat your mother on her special day.

Mother's Day Breakfast

Below are some wonderful special breakfast recipes which are quick to prepare and can be easily served on a tray for a Mother's Day breakfast in bed indulgence.

Better still, with our recipes, even young children can participate - from beating the eggs to blitzing the fruit for a special Mother's Day smoothie to laying the tray or table.

Make the tray look extra special with some fresh flowers - just a few blooms taken from a larger bunch placed in a small receptacle makes a difference.

Don't forget the salt and pepper and a pretty folded napkin. The one featured in the picture is called The Rosebud. Below are the folding instructions, or you can find a video showing you exactly how to fold it by clicking here.

1. Lay the napkin back side up and fold in half diagonally so the open corner faces away from you.
2. Fold the left and right corners upwards so they meet at the top point.
3. Turn the napkin over, keeping the open ends pointing away from you and fold the bottom third of the napkin upwards. Press along the fold.
4. Turn the napkin over, still keeping the open ends facing away from you,  fold the left  side over then the right side tucking it into the other side.
5. Turn the napkin over and either stand upright or lay flat.

If your mum doesn't like eating breakfast in bed, you can still treat her on Mother's day. Simply take her a cup of tea or coffee or even our wonderful Mother's Day smoothie in bed,  then serve the full breakfast in the dining room/kitchen.

Serve the smoothie in a champagne flute and garnish with a fresh strawberry to make it even more special.
