Roast Beef/Horseradish

Why not be different and throw a Yorkshire Pudding brunch, lunch or evening party  to celebrate British Yorkshire Pudding Day (the 1st Sunday in February) ....or at any time of the year.

Providing you follow our instructions for making perfect Yorkshire Pudding, you can make all the mini Yorkshires well before hand then fill and reheat as and when needed. You can even serve dessert ones - think "pancake" and fill with sweetened fruit etc.

You don't have to only serve Yorkshire canapés at your party, but whichever and however many you choose to serve, your guests will be delighted.

Assembly

It's easier to cook the Yorkshires well beforehand then allow to cool before filling. So long as they've risen and "set" they won't fall flat once cool. It's therefore important to give them the maximum  possible time in the oven to brown and crisp.

Cook the fillings separately then just before serving, place the Yorkshires in a very hot oven for 3-5 minutes to heat through then fill with the hot fillings and serve immediately.

Filling suggestions

Mini Yorkshires can be filled with just about anything including vegetarian fillings. You can also season the batter with herbs such as thyme or sage for extra flavour. Here are just a few suggestions

  • Rare Roast beef slices with Horseradish

  • Cocktail sausages

  • Small Bacon Rolls

  • Sautéed Wild Porcini Mushrooms

  • Caramelised Red Onion

  • Stilton & Onion (place a small cube of Stilton in the Yorkshires before re-heating them then top with fried onions)

  • Sautéed Spinach with Pancetta

  • Chicken in Cream Sauce

  • Tomato and Basil

Don't forget about sweet ones too from simple jam and cream to  sweetened fruit compotes or sliced bananas with a thick chocolate sauce.
