A Weekday Menu Recipe

 

 

Brazilian Rice    Veg  HT  ACC  Brazilian  25mins

 

 

Serves 4   Hot Vegetarian  Vegan  Grains  Vegetables  Accompaniment   Eggless  Gluten Wheat  Dairy free   Brazil  Sth American  South America

 

 

Ingredients

3 tbsp Olive Oil

1 Onion, chopped

225g/8oz Long Grain Rice

600ml/20fl.oz. Water or Stock

Salt

 

 

Instructions

 

1. Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over a medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until onion is soft. 

 

2. Add the rice, mix well and sauté for 1 minute. 

 

3. Add the water or stock, cover  and cook over a low heat until all the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.

Boil  - To bring a liquid to boiling temperature and to maintain it throughout the cooking time

Sauté  - The cooking of food in a small amount of fat, preferably in a single layer, until it browns and softens. It is important not to overfill the pan.
