Press Release 23 May 2000 Launch of Recipes4us In these hectic days where time always seems to be at a premium, here's a handy time-saving vehicle. Recipes4us.co.uk is a UK based independent online recipe site targeted at people who want or need to find new or old recipes easily. With the advent of computers galore, busy folk can access it from work or home, and with the new WAP mobile telephones, almost anywhere in between, never again to be faced with a half empty fridge, rumbling stomachs and no immediate idea as to what to do with either. The site has been designed to enable visitors to find recipes quickly, and to that end has been kept simple, with few unnecessary or gimmicky features. Launched on 31st March 2000, there are over 1100 British and International recipes already, covering all types of cuisine from vegetarian to carnivore, traditional to nouvelle, to suit all levels of culinary expertise, palates and budgets. The recipes are divided into 12 main categories e.g. Main Courses, Accompaniments, Desserts etc., including separate Chinese and Indian sections, and 23 sub-categories such as Fish Hors d'oeuvre, Pasta Main Course, Salsas and Relishes. There's a simple to use search form, which is not only fun, but fast and when we say fast, we mean fast. Visitors enter the ingredient(s) and/or other specifications such as 'cold', 'Italian', 'dessert', and the search produces a list of available recipes containing those criteria, literally within seconds. Alternatively, each category can be accessed via clearly labelled navigation buttons which appear on all the pages after they've "entered the kitchen". Once into the category page, recipes are listed in order by preparation time. To accommodate the less initiated, there are detailed instructions on to how to use the search form and a glossary page listing cooking terms. There are no subscriptions or fees to use this service: just find it, print it, cook it and eat it. Recipes4us' credentials are simple, but sound. The Editor has 35 years' experience of cooking; from the simplicity of cheese on toast to the more exacting process of spinning sugar; a passion which is as fresh and exciting to her today as it was when she produced her first fairy cakes as a child. Every recipe falls under her scrupulous eye before publication and new recipes are being added to existing categories regularly, with a Barbecue and Picnic section due to be launched within the next three weeks. For the future, it is hoped to have direct links to online food shopping and kitchen equipment sites, making it a quick and easy one-stop process to choose, buy and cook fresh food.
