Bourbon BBQ Sauce   HT  CD  ACC  45mins 


Makes 600ml/20fl.oz.   Hot  Cold  Alcohol  Vegetables  Barbecue  Savoury  Sauces Accompaniment  Condiment



1 tbsp Butter
1 tbsp Olive Oil
1 large Onion, finely chopped
2 Garlic Cloves, crushed
120ml/4fl.oz. Black Treacle or Dark Molasses
240ml/8fl.oz. Tomato Ketchup
60ml/2fl.oz. Red Wine Vinegar
1 teasp English Mustard
Black pepper
2 tbsp Lemon Juice
teasp grated Lemon Zest
1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 tbsp Paprika
90ml/3fl.oz. Bourbon Whiskey


1. Heat the butter and oil in a large saucepan, add the onions and garlic and cook until softened.


2. Add the treacle, ketchup, vinegar, mustard, pepper, lemon juice, zest, soy sauce, paprika, and bourbon to the onions, mix well, bring to the boil then reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring from time to time.


3.  Serve hot or cold as a sauce. Can also be used to baste meat or chicken.
