how to roast chestnuts - a traditional winter

As many Chestnuts
as you reckon you can eat
1. Preheat the oven to 200C, 400F, Gas Mark 6.
2. With a sharp knife, make a slit through the shell of each chestnut about
2.5cm/1 inch long. This is to prevent them from bursting.
3. Place in a roasting tin and roast for about 20 minutes or until tender.
Can also be grilled under a hot grill, turning from time to time, or amidst
the hot cinders of an open fire.
Eat just on their own as a snack or use to accompany roast poultry and game
at Christmas....or any other time!
