Julegroed (Christmas Porridge) Veg HT HD Danish 65mins
Serves 4 Hot Vegetarian Nuts Grains Appetizer Starter Hors d'oeuvre Gluten Wheat free Eggless Denmark Europe
Ingredients:
1L/35fl.oz. Milk
A heaped teaspoon Butter
200g/7oz Rice
120ml/4fl.oz. Double Cream
1 Whole Almond
50g/2oz Sugar
A pinch of Cinnamon
Instructions
1.
Place the milk in a large saucepan and heat until boiling.
2.
Add the butter and stir until melted then add the rice and mix well.
3.
Reduce the heat and simmer very gently for 1 hour, or until all the milk has been
absorbed.
4.
To serve - transfer to a large bowl and fold in the cream and the almond and sprinkle
with extra sugar and cinnamon.
Whoever gets the almond has good luck. Traditionally served at festive times such as Christmas as a starter.
