Bacon and sausages are a traditional accompaniments
(trimmings) to roast turkey at Christmas or Easter. Often cocktail
sauces are used and the bacon is rolled separately and speared
with a cocktail stick and both are roasted separately. However, this
recipe combines the two and is sometimes known as "Pigs in Blankets".
Also great for parties with or without a suitable dip. |
Ingredients
6 Chipolatas
6 rashers of Streaky Bacon
Instructions
1. Preheat the
oven to 220C, 425F, Gas Mark 7. Stretch bacon rashers with back of a knife
and cut each rasher in half widthways.
2. Twist
each chipolatas in the centre 2 or 3 times to form two linked sausages then cut
in half at the links so you have 12 smaller sausages.
3. Wrap a piece
of bacon around each of the sausages then place them seam side down on a baking
tray or you can spear with a wooden cocktail stick to hold the bacon in place,
and roast near the bottom of the oven for 15-20 minutes.
Once assembled
they can be covered with aluminium foil and chilled until required (1 day in
advance).
