Below are general guidelines for growing dill including plant height to enable you to plan exactly where to place them when growing amongst other plants.

Plant Height

Up to 90cm/3 ft

Where to Sow

Containers  : Sow 3 seeds in small pots pressing into the surface of the compost

Open Ground:  2.5cm/1-inch apart. Press into soil surface.

 

Sowing time

March/April - temperature   +16C/61F. 

How to Sow

2.5cm/1-inch apart. Press into soil surface

After Germination

Keep moist.

Growing on - 

 in Pots

When 7.55cm/3-inches tall, thin to 1 plant per 7.5cm/3" pot. When 30cm/12" pot up into 15cm/6"pots or 3 to a 30cm/12" pot or container. Stake tall plants during the growing season

Growing on -

in open ground

When 7.55cm/3-inches tall, thin to 30cm/12-inches apart. Stake tall plants during the growing season

Harvesting

Pick leaves just before the flowers open. Harvest seeds when they are flat and brown.

Uses

The leaves are great sprinkled on news potatoes, tomatoes, grilled salmon, spinach, green beans, cucumbers and squash. Use the seeds for pickling.
