Below are general guidelines for growing land cress, a good substitute for
watercress, including plant height to
enable you to plan exactly where to place them when growing amongst other
plants.

How to Sow

deep - very thinly - in rows 30cm/12" apart or in groups/blocks

After Germination

Thin out to 10cm (4in) apart and keep weed free. |
Growing on -

Thin the seedlings to 8in (20cm) spacings when they are large
enough to handle. Protect from
slugs. Keep the soil moist but not wet. |

Aftercare
|
Keep the soil
very moist
with regular watering, preferably before mid afternoon. Continue to
protect from slugs. Remove flower stalks as they appear
|
Harvesting
|
Pick the outer leaves from young plants this will
encourage more growth. Pick the heart leaves from older plants. Very
hardy - covered with cloches to provide pickings through the winter. |
