One small step for man: help
reduce your carbon footprint
2007-06-27 17:34:33 - We
are all being urged to keep an eye on our carbon footprint to reduce the impact
on climate change and natural resources and to eat 5-a-day to reduce the strain
on our bodies (and the NHS) by looking after our health.
The reality is that saying' is often easier than doing', however
Recipes4us.co.uk has just launched two new aids on their website to help
ordinary people easily achieve both targets in one hit.
In tandem, the What's in Season' and Smoothies' sections provide all the
information needed to enable people to not only eat locally grown seasonal
produce, which have a lighter carbon footprint than fruit and vegetables which
are imported, but also offers a simple, quick and delicious way to get the NHS
recommended 5-a-day'.
The What's in season' section is divided into months of the year and also
features an interactive map of all the counties in England, Wales and Scotland
(N. Ireland coming soon) which shows hundreds of Farmers' Markets throughout the
UK, taking the hassle out of sourcing fresh locally grown produce, no matter
where the reader is from. To round things off, each month has sample recipes
using produce in season.
The Smoothies' section not only has the usual fruit smoothie recipes, but also
sections containing vegetable and adult smoothies, plus the most comprehensive
instructions you'll find on the net detailing how to make the perfect smoothie.
To make things even more simple, all the smoothie recipes state how many of your
'5-a-day' each portion contains, so if used it in conjunction with the 'What's
in Season' section, readers can easily do their bit to lessen their carbon
footprint and eat, or should we say drink healthily at the same time.
